A Healthy Heart

Hearts are more than love and romance, they play an important role in our lives. Their main function isn't to make us fall in love, but to keep our blood pumping around our body. The blood flow carries oxygen, hormones, important compounds, and essential cells. We can let our heart fail because of a poor diet, lack of exercise, and poor health choices. Its so important to protect our heart and keep it healthy. So, what can we do keep our heart healthy?

Stay physically active - according to the World Health Organization recommends regular physically activity at least 150 minutes a week. So, hit the gym, take a walk, or small workout at home. This will control common heart disease risk factors including high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and overweight.

Eat a heart healthy diet - this includes eating more fruit and vegetables, which is linked to heathier hearts and lower risk of heart disease. Swap out the refined grain for whole grain. They have more nutrients like fiber, vitamin B and E, and healthy fats. Cut back on the salt intake. Lowering you salt intake can help your blood pressure. Too much salt can make your heart work overtime to get your blood pumping.

Be smoke free- smoking damages the blood vessels leading to your heart, brain, and through out your body. Sadly, this increases your chances getting heart disease, stroke, or a heart attack.
